CAMBRIDGE, MA, January 22, 1999 - Grace Construction Products (GCP), a worldwide leader in the construction products industry, has announced the following appointments in Concrete Products: Ted Herz to Director of Marketing, John Swart toWashington District Manager, and Kenneth Nigro to the newly created position of Western Canada District Manager for the Western Region.
In his new position, Herz will be responsible for the global marketing efforts of Concrete Products including development and implementation of strategic plans, management of international marketing programs, and continuation of the strong coordination between marketing and research.
"Ted will help us maintain the level of excellence in the company's worldwide marketing activities as a participating member of GCP's global marketing directors team," said Gregory Polling, vice president and general manager of Grace Construction Products' Concrete Products, cement processing additives and masonry products.
Herz worked for Degussa Corporation for thirteen years, most recently as Business Director for a specialty chemicals unit. During his tenure with Degussa, Ted held various sales and marketing positions including director of marketing for fumed silica and metallic oxides.Herz has an M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut and a B.S. in Geology from Denison University.
John Swart's responsibilities will involve growing and managing the sales of concrete products in the Washington D.C. district. Over the past 12 years, Swart has worked with GCP as branch manager and salesperson. He has received many awards during his years with Grace including the Sales Masters Award in 1994. Swart is an active member of the Maryland and Virginia Ready Mix Associations.

Swart has a degree from the State University of New York.
In his new position as Western Canada District Manager, Ken Nigro will lead his seasoned team in supporting the successes and continued growth that the provinces have experienced over the past several years.
Nigro has most recently been assigned to the Asia Pacific market based in Singapore as Product Manager for Durability Products/Concrete Products. He has been with Grace for ten years including his three years of service in Singapore. Prior to Singapore, Nigro was the Engineering Services Manager for the Western Region of North America where he was an active member of ACI, SEONC and ICRI. He has co-authored a paper on "New Developments in Shrinkage-Reducing Admixtures" which was delivered at the NRMCA International Concrete Convention, Malaysia, 1998. Nigro holds a BS degree from Bryant College in Rhode Island.
